Emma was an improving global health fellow (HEE) based in Yangon, Myanmar between 2016鈥�17. From 2016鈥�21, Emma was a faculty member for a bi-annual RCP PACES communication skills course in Myanmar. Since 2021, she has supported doctors from Myanmar who have moved to the UK, working alongside several national organisations, most notably NHS England and NHS Improvement and the Medical Support Worker programme.

Emma looks forward to bringing her skills and experience to the role of AGD for international medical graduates (IMGs). Working within the Medical Training Initiative (MTI) team, she aims to focus on streamlining processes involved in the MTI Programme, from application until post-placement, ensuring placements are reflective of the needs of candidates, NHS trusts and international partners.

Mo qualified in Yangon, Burma/Myanmar, and his clinical areas of interest include osteoporosis, metabolic bone disease, pituitary diseases, and thyroid disorders. 

He is a member of the clinical committee of the Society for Endocrinology and training programme director for endocrinology and diabetes in Yorkshire and the Humber. Dr Aye has been involved with educational activities in the Asia Pacific region since 2017 and has led and delivered courses supporting Burmese trainees. He has also held external roles as a specialist advisor to the Care Quality Commission and the healthcare regulator in England.

Haroon has worked very hard to develop the field of palliative medicine and promote training for nurses and doctors at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in Pakistan. He has developed a postgraduate curriculum to initiate training in palliative medicine in the country. Haroon has been raising his voice on national and international platforms to improve access to opioids in Pakistan. He has been involved in collaborative research relating to palliative medicine and digital health with partners in the UK and beyond.

Dr Hafeez also has a keen interest in healthcare quality assurance, risk management, and patient safety. He has led several quality initiatives at his hospital and is the director of quality assurance and patient safety.

He graduated from Edinburgh University in 1992 and completed postgraduate training in Oxford and London. From 1997 to 2000, he worked as a research fellow on the immunology of malaria vaccines at the Medical Research Council Laboratories in The Gambia and the Institute of Molecular Medicine in Oxford.

Phil is the training programme director for infectious diseases in London and an associate professor of tropical medicine at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He joined the RCP Global team in 2016 as a technical advisor on postgraduate training to the East Central and Southern Africa College of Physicians (ECSACOP). For the past decade, Phil has spent three months each year based in Tanzania and Uganda as course director for the East African diploma in tropical medicine and hygiene.

After completing his medical degree at the University of Iceland in 2001, Tomas moved to the UK to complete his postgraduate training in London. He obtained his MRCP in 2006 and has been a fellow of the RCP since 2016. He's held a consultant post at Landsp铆tali since 2013 and obtained his role of chief medical officer after serving as head of postgraduate medicine. Following the successful implementation of internal medicine training and MRCP examinations in Iceland, Tomas has also participated in other international RCP work focused on Education.

His clinical practice focus is the medical care of patients with all forms of kidney disease, from acute kidney injury to end-stage kidney disease. He has a passion for education and has been honoured with several awards including the All-University of Virginia Award for Education and the Master Educator award from the University of Virginia School of Medicine. He has served various times as fellowship programme director in nephrology and as associate director of the internal medicine residency programme. His work in education has been recognised by the American College of Physicians with its 2008 Evergreen award. He has also been recognised by the United States Department of State for the development of joint collaborative education and research efforts between the University of Virginia and San Bortolo Hospital (Vicenza, Italy) and the University of Padova (Padua, Italy).

His research interests include the pathogenesis and management of disorders of sodium and water balance, the treatment of polycystic kidney disease, quality improvement in peritoneal dialysis, and the development of novel therapeutics for acute kidney injury. Most recently, he has chaired an international consortium that is defining toxins that accumulate in uremic syndrome. He has participated in over 12 pivotal clinical trials devoted to various aspects of kidney disease. Mitchell has published over 200 research and reviews articles in peer-reviewed medical journals such as the听New England Journal of Medicine. In 2019, he was awarded one of the highest honours in nephrology, the Robert Narins award for lifetime contributions to nephrology by the American Society of Nephrology. He was also awarded the 2019 International Vicenza award for his contributions to critical care nephrology.
